Brian McClear is a representational artist with a deep love for the process of painting. Whether working on portraits or everyday objects, he brings a strong sense of form and texture to his work. Painting primarily in oil, he uses bold, intuitive brushstrokes to explore connections—capturing a mood, telling a story, sharing an opinion, or sometimes just highlighting something amusing.

Originally from Ohio, Brian earned his BFA from the Columbus College of Art before moving to New England. He spent over 25 years in the advertising world, first as a freelance illustrator and later leading the marketing technology arm of a top Connecticut agency, creating interactive campaigns for major brands.

Recently, he traded his computer screen for the easel, painting full-time in his Connecticut studio—where he always has a couple works in progress. His award-winning work can be found in private collections and museums across the United States.
