Exhibition: April 18 – May 8, 2026
Opening Reception: Saturday, April 18 from 3:00-5:30pm
Location: Alofft Gallery | 41 West Street, Litchfield, CT 06759
The exhibition will feature a group of new still life paintings that respond to the current political landscape through observation, symbolism, and the quiet language of objects.
About the Exhibition
Still life has traditionally been a way of studying everyday objects—light, form, texture, and the relationships between things placed together. The title Still Matters plays on that tradition while suggesting something more: that certain questions, values, and tensions continue to matter.
The paintings in this exhibition bring together familiar objects—tools, toys, food, and fragments of everyday life—to reflect on the present moment. Rather than illustrating events directly, the work explores how ordinary objects can carry meaning, contradiction, and commentary.
In this sense, the paintings remain still lifes—but they are also observations about a time in which the things that still matter are often the very things under pressure.
