Toot Sweets A vintage bicycle horn and colorful hard candies came together simply because I liked the way their shapes and colors played off one another. As the painting developed, it began to bring to mind the carefree days of childhood summers, when a bicycle meant freedom, a pocketful of candy could make an ordinary afternoon feel like an adventure, and the day didn’t end until the streetlights came on.
